The Lawns: FAQ

Find clear answers to frequently asked questions about our care, policies, and facilities to assist your visit.

What type of care do you provide?

We offer both permanent and respite care, supporting adults with a wide range of nursing, physical, neurological and complex health needs. Our Registered Nurses are on duty 24 hours a day.

How are your fees worked out?

Our weekly fees are personalised and based on each Client’s care needs, chosen room, and any additional support required. Because everyone is different, we provide individual quotes rather than a single published rate. Please contact us for a clear, tailored breakdown.

Do you accept NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding?

Yes — we are able to support some Clients who receive CHC funding. We’re happy to discuss how this works in practice and whether we have suitable availability.

What is included in the weekly fee?

Fees typically include accommodation, meals, nursing care, activities, laundry and day-to-day support. Any additional services or one-to-one support will be discussed individually so there are no surprises.

Can we visit before making a decision?

Absolutely. We encourage families to visit, meet the team and get a feel for daily life at The Lawns. Please contact us to arrange a convenient time.

What activities do clients take part in?

Our activities are shaped around Clients’ interests and wishes. Popular options include arts and crafts, gardening, music, gentle exercise, games, community outings and one-to-one time. There’s always something meaningful to enjoy.

Can Clients personalise their rooms?

Yes — we encourage Clients to bring personal items, photos and small pieces of furniture to help their room feel like home.

Do you provide meals and cater for dietary needs?

Yes. Our kitchen team prepares fresh, home-cooked meals every day and can cater for a wide range of dietary requirements, preferences and textures.

How do you keep families informed?

We believe in open, honest communication. Families are welcome to speak with staff at any time, and we arrange regular reviews to discuss care, wellbeing and any changes in needs.

How do we start the admissions process?

Simply get in touch. We’ll talk through their needs, arrange a visit and guide you through the next steps at a pace that feels right for you.

How do you assess a new Client’s care needs?

Before someone moves in, we carry out a thorough assessment to understand their health, daily routines, preferences and any specialist support they may need. This helps us create a personalised care plan that feels right for them.

Do you provide nursing care?

Yes. We are a nursing home with Registered Nurses on duty 24 hours a day. Our team supports a wide range of physical, neurological and complex health needs.

How often are care plans reviewed?

Care plans are living documents. We review them regularly and update them whenever needs or preferences change, ensuring each Client receives the right support at the right time.

Can you support people with dementia or cognitive impairment?

We can support Clients with mild to moderate cognitive needs, depending on individual circumstances. We always assess each person carefully to ensure we can meet their needs safely and well.

What happens if a Client’s needs increase over time?

We understand that needs can change. Our team works closely with clients, families and healthcare professionals to adapt care plans and ensure continuity of support. It may be necessary to increase fees if the changes to the Client’s care needs are significant and this will be discussed with all involved.

Do you offer end of life or palliative care?

Our experienced team provides high-quality palliative and end-of-life care, focused on comfort, dignity and support for both clients and their families. We have been awarded GSF Platinum Status, the highest standard in end-of-life care.

How do you support Clients’ wellbeing?

Wellbeing is woven into daily life — through meaningful activities, social connection, good nutrition, time outdoors and one-to-one support. We aim to help every client feel valued, engaged and at home.

How do you keep Clients safe?

Safety is a priority. We follow robust policies for medication, infection control, safeguarding and risk management, and our team receives ongoing training to maintain high standards of care. For added safety and peace of mind, we have CCTV in key internal areas and around the exterior of the home.

Can Clients keep their own GP?

Where possible, yes. If a Client’s GP is unable to continue providing care, we help arrange a smooth transition to a local practice.
