About Us

The Lawns is a true family-run home, led by mother and daughter team Pat and Anna Carrier — both experienced nurses with a lifelong commitment to compassionate, person-centred care.

Pat founded The Lawns in 1981, and Anna has been our Registered Manager since 2000. Together, they’ve created a warm, lively and genuinely homely environment where people feel known, valued and supported.

The Lawns is proud to hold Platinum status under the Gold Standards Framework, recognising our sustained excellence in personalised, compassionate end‑of‑life care. This is the highest level awarded and reflects our commitment to supporting residents to live well — and, when the time comes, to die with dignity, comfort and choice.

That’s why we invest heavily in ongoing training and clear career pathways. Every team member has access to structured development from their first day, with mentorship, ambassador opportunities and leadership progression built into our culture.

We also support our staff with wellbeing resources, predictable shift patterns and meaningful recognition, from monthly shout outs to milestone celebrations. It’s all part of our belief that “looking after our team is how we look after everyone who calls The Lawns home.”

Specialist support for all ages

We care for people with a wide range of needs — including physical disabilities, learning disabilities, neurological conditions and complex health requirements. Our Clients range in age from 18 to over 100, and every care plan is tailored to the individual.

A historic home with room to breathe

The Lawns is a beautiful 1770s family house set in half an acre of landscaped gardens on the outskirts of Gloucester. It’s peaceful, welcoming and full of character, with easy access to public transport and just a short walk from the Severn Vale shopping centre and library.
